There’s a Crocodile in the House

There’s a Crocodile in the House by Paul Cookson (Otter-Barry)

A poetry book with instructions: Several of the poems are accompanied by performance advice like ‘…hold your noses while saying the chorus’ (smelly socks), encourage the audience to join in with the word Bottoms’ (lots of joining in), ‘…have the audience say Ow and rise from their seats’ (a lavatory with teeth). So, plenty of toilet humour here. Which undoubtedly appeals to younger children and let’s hope it encourages them to read some of the more general poems. Nothing deep here but a fun book about the usual subjects that kids will enjoy. Nice illustrations by Liz Million.
