Whispers of the Deep

by Yiyang aged 10

The wide, wavy and vicious sea has woken up
Just to hunt for food again
it’s dark
Swells swallowing the horizon and breathing hunger,
We thought it had long since starved
While flinging cliffs get destroyed into pieces
At the same time other companions watch helplessly with bitter rage…
Crashing waves force trapped air and water
Fracturing the cliffs’ bones apart
Bold, bleak, battered boulders, beakers of the waves
Aways targeting the overhanging rock faces
The sea also carves glyphs while it dances past the skiffs
The cliff crawls before it walks and tries to hold back tears
But just can’t
And just knows that there life would also be taken
Cliffs steadily break apart and try to retreat to somewhere else
But everywhere is full with big waves patrolling the cliffs
So they say their last words to their family and friends.
