Behind our house, beside the swing,
There sits a very special thing.
A treehouse built of oak and pine,
With secret steps that twist and twine.
I climbed up high one afternoon,
And hummed a little happy tune.
I found a button on the wall,
That looked so shiny and so small.
I gave that button one small press,
And then the treehouse started, yes!
It shook and spun and left the ground,
Without a single crashing sound.
We flew above the neighborhood,
Far past the river and the wood.
The cars below looked just like toys,
Away from all the town and noise.
Our first stop was a land of cheese,
Where yellow clouds blew in the breeze.
The mountains were a cheddar bright,
A very strange and funny sight.
The little mice wore tiny hats,
And played a game with balls and bats.
They waved at me and shared a slice,
And said, “The weather here is nice!”
I pressed the shiny button next,
Although I felt a bit perplexed.
The treehouse zoomed up to the stars,
Way past the glowing planet Mars.
An alien with purple spots
Was tying spaceships into knots.
He had three eyes and five long arms,
And told me stories of his farms.
He grew bright stars instead of corn,
That sparkled in the cosmic morn.
He gave me popcorn made of light,
That tasted sweet and super bright.
Then whoosh! The treehouse took a dive,
I felt so glad to be alive.
We landed in a deep blue sea,
As safe and dry as we could be.
A friendly whale swam floating by,
And blinked a giant, gentle eye.
The fish were wearing shiny shoes,
And dancing to the ocean blues.
A crab was playing the guitar,
And acting like a rock-and-roll star.
The seahorses swam in a ring,
To hear the coral choir sing.
The button blinked a bright neon,
And told me that I must move on.
We soared into a jungle green,
The wildest place I’ve ever seen.
The monkeys swung from vine to vine,
And drank a bubbly juice of pine.
A parrot spoke a funny word,
The wisest talking jungle bird.
He told me where the treasure lay,
A mile or two or three away.
But there was hidden in the mud,
A giant candy-colored flood.
The river flowed with chocolate sweet,
A yummy, messy jungle treat.
I dipped a cup and took a sip,
Upon this very magic trip.
The next stop was a castle grand,
Made out of sparkly golden sand.
A dragon sat upon the roof,
And blew out purple smoke with poof!
But he was not a scary beast,
He invited me to join a feast.
With cupcakes stacked up to the sky,
And bowls of sweet marshmallow pie.
The king and queen wore paper crowns,
And wore bright yellow fluffy gowns.
They did a dance and skipped around,
With joy upon the castle ground.
Then next we flew to winter days,
Where snow fell down in chilly ways.
The penguins rode on shiny sleds,
With cozy hats upon their heads.
We built a snowman ten feet tall,
And rolled a giant snowball ball.
The ice was smooth, the air was crisp,
The wind blew by just like a wisp.
The clock inside began to chime,
And said, “It’s nearly dinner time!”
I knew I had to hurry back,
Along the winding starry track.
I turned the dial to the right,
And held on tight with all my might.
The treehouse flew across the sky,
As fast as lightning flashing by.
It settled down upon the oak,
And gave a little puff of smoke.
I opened up the wooden door,
And stood upon the yard once more.
My mom called out, “Come wash your hands!”
She did not know of foreign lands.
But I just smiled and waved goodbye,
To my secret house that flies so high.
