The Cat and the Rat

by Anshi Anup aged 10

In twilight’s hush, where shadows dance and play,
A sly rat and a curious cat did stray,
Their paws did wander, night’s dark veil did lift,
And in the moon’s soft light, their games did shift.

The rat, with cunning eyes and sly design,
Did steal a pie from the kitchen, oh so fine,
The cat, with whiskers twitching, did espy,
And chased the rat, with a playful sigh.

Through streets of stone, and alleys dark and narrow,
The chase did weave, a winding, twisting tangle,
The rat, with quick feet, did dart and dodge her,
The cat, with graceful leaps, did follow and ponder.

Their game of tag, a merry, mirthful sight,
Did fill the night with laughter and delight,
Their antics, a joy to see and behold,
Did bring a smile to all who did behold.
