Santa’s Journey

by Zola Carnew aged 15

A chilly Christmas eve,
Fireplaces fighting the freeze.
Children crowd the Christmas square,
Their carols fill the frosty air.
A Norway Spruce stands sentinel,
Lights twinkling a magic spell.
Winter’s embrace, crisp and bright
Snowflakes dancing like diamonds in flight.
Shoppers shuffle with stuffed sacks
Tomorrow’s presents and sweet snacks.
Little ones’ laughter echoing in the fading light,
Eyes to the sky awaiting reindeer flight.
Watching Santa Tracker in anticipation
Charting his progress nation to nation.
Waiting for Saint Nick to skim the sky,
Bells jingling, the red sleigh will fly.
His warm, jolly smile, full of Christmas cheer
He tiptoes ‘cross rooftops, magic far and near.
Fuelled by kind cookies and drinks,
Down chimney portals he shrinks and sinks.
Children sleep, dreaming of delight,
As presents pile up this Christmas night.
On every chimney, his prints remain,
Elves delight, it’s Christmas again!
