Rusty Trust

by Charlottei aged 13

I want to hug you and love you and kiss you in rain
But when I lie on your chest all I hear is pain
All I hear are the echoes of my sobs
And the empty soul of my heart you robbed
How did I fail so badly at trust
Hearts locked and bolted and I let it rust
Our umbrella was perfect kept out the shower
I messed up and wilted our flower
I wanted to say I love you quiet as a whispering willow
I’ll just say I love you into my tear sodden pillow
