Peter’s Denial

by Ella Beynon aged 13

“I tell you that before the cock crows tonight
And the stars in the night sky are white,
You will deny knowing me three times,
As if being my disciple was one of the worst crimes.”
Peter replies: “No my Lord never could I.”
Little did he know this was a lie.
After Jesus was arrested they all gather around a bonfire:
Around the fire they all sat peaceful,
The atmosphere being highly easeful.
“This man too was with Jesus!” a servant accused,
But Peter refused sounding amused.
Later that night he remained untrue,
And a man declared “You are one of them, too!”
Peter replied “Man, I am not”,
Not thinking of the prophecy that he’d forgotten.
“There isn’t any doubt that this man was with Jesus,” a guy insisted,
But yet again Peter resisted.
The cock crowed and Peter suddenly went jittery,
He left and wept bitterly.
