Hoc Est Somnium Meum – This is My Dream

by Prithvi Shivan aged 13

As a thirteen year old student,
I dream of playing with friends,
Beating them at football and chess,
Following the latest trends.

As an overtly ambitious kid,
I dream of heading to space,
Just like the great Neil Armstrong did,
But instead sporting a magnificent red cape.

As a religious badminton player,
I dream of playing a set at All England,
Conquering all the rallies, smashing every shot like a striker,
Dominating all 4 corners of the court every second.

As a long term LEGO addict,
I dream of building whatever comes to mind,
To put every brick together with a satisfying click,
To complete every collection – so inclined.

As a budding musician,
I dream of mastering the drums, flute & piano,
Playing exceptional world fusion,
Notes enchanted, calm and mellow.

As an aspiring Masterchef candidate,
I dream of whipping up new dishes,
Just thinking about it makes me salivate,
Grabbing exquisite vittles from the stark white fridges .

As a keen Latin and Chinese student,
I dream of visiting the historic lands,
As a speaker, practiced and fluent,
Exploring the spectacular ruins built by ancient hands.

As a compassionate global citizen,
I dream of a world with no disease or poverty,
A pacific utopia with discipline,
A place without derision or robbery.

As a perpetually optimistic person,
I dream for a world of peace,
A place where justice rings in all nations,
Hoc est somnium meum.
