When I was young
They ran, they sung,
They screamed, they’d shout,
They laughed and swam with no doubt,
I was a king, a queen,
An astronaut and rather keen,
I wanted to be a millionaire and rule the world,
When I was young,
I was ambitious as the truth of life still hadn’t uncurled.
However, I grew,
They stood, they thought things though,
They whispered, they mumbled,
They felt so very humbled,
I wanted good grades, and confidence to speak
I dreamt of no longer feeling like a freak,
The truth of life had now uncurled,
And I simply realised I could not rule the world.
Then I thought,
Yes, they could in fact still run and not be caught,
Yes, they can still prate because the just can’t wait,
Yes, it is okay to dream dreams of fate.
As life is too short.
So, dream big or small.
Just don’t put it to waste.
That’s all.
