A Leaf’s Comfort

by Celine Fathazam aged 10

Seasons change and you do too,
the past has passed and the present is present.
You used to play in the snow, but now you hold the leaves.
The dark orange leaves, the ones that look quiet inside.
They make you feel warm inside.
It’s a nice feeling, as if someone’s hugging you
after being under a nice warm blanket for hours.
You didn’t feel like that last year.
That’s because you changed, and this feeling?
This feeling will pass,
you won’t always feel that warmth.
So enjoy it, because it’ll probably leave.
It’s okay, maybe you’ll find another thing
that feels even more comforting.
