School

School may be bad
But all in all it’s not that sad
Think about it
If you didn’t learn
You might as well quit
Don’t throw it away too fast
For all you know It could be a blast
So think about it very well
Maybe you might cast a spell
And start to love school
More than gruel

Aim for Fame

0
by Harshita Das

I stare from the ground, up into the starry sky
I will aim for glory; to be famous and known
Immortal through my name and deeds
People won’t ever forget the light that I have shown

And as I come closer to my egocentric goal
Performing deeds, for gain instead of good
I realize, no matter how bright I’ll twinkle and shine
The Sun will come up; and wipe all the stars into the abyss

Then, I get frustrated, furious and desperate
Immortality is what I had longed for, I had a clear aim
Now clinging to the crystal goal
I set forward to re-earn my fame

My goal didn’t change; but my methods did
For Villains are carved firmly into stone
Instead of light; I would be the dark
I would be the one who people abhorred
And my name would be unbendable from history

And so I tell you, don’t trick yourself
Perform good deeds not for glory
But for yourself; for a clean conscience
Which grows from gratitude
And the happiness for the one you helped

The Greek Mall

3
by Harshita Das

Malls are magical places
Corridors upon corridors that we stumble upon
Are like the Labyrinth
Too many shops for clothing
Which can rival the clothing of Aphrodite, goddess of beauty
The virtual video games that take you to another dimension
The theatre shrouded with curtains and moving pictures
All like the work of Hephaestus, god of crafts
Stalls and restaurants of food
(Try chicken popcorn at K.F.C, it’s good)
All having different smells being cast to your nose
Designed to magically mesmerize you
And trap you there forever
Or until you run out of cash
Waitresses in shops that sell toys
Have the silver tongue of Medea
And although adults are immune
Children aren’t so lucky
For toys have a spell that attracts them
Which, in turn gravitates dollars towards them
Ingenious really, for adults can resist the charm of toys
But not the charm of children

Mall is an evil, evil place
Disguised with its luxuries and charm
Created to vacuum your money
And unfortunately, now I am a victim too
For I think that it’s the best place in the world

Whispers of Autumn’s Symphony

0
by Frederick Amazing

In autumn’s realm, September unfolds,
Leaves ablaze in hues of gold.
Nature’s canvas, a masterpiece displayed,
As summer’s warmth begins to fade.

October emerges, a season of delight,
When pumpkin patches ignite the night.
Leaves pirouette in a whimsical dance,
Inviting us to join their enchanted trance.

November whispers with a subtle chill,
A symphony of colors on every hill.
School bells ring, a familiar sound,
New adventures await, classrooms abound.

The air is crisp, with stories to be told,
Of friends and teachers, both new and old.
Excitement fills the halls, anticipation in the air,
As we embark on journeys, beyond compare.

In September’s embrace, change takes flight,
A fresh chapter begins, bathed in autumn’s light.
October’s charm captivates, with each passing day,
As nature’s artistry paints the world in an array.

November’s arrival, a gentle reminder,
To savor the moments, to cherish and ponder.
For time moves swiftly, like leaves in the wind,
And in this season of wonder, new stories begin.

So let us embrace these months with glee,
As autumn unveils its captivating decree.
September, October, and November unite,
A tapestry of moments, woven just right.

The Hollow

by Jelani Kamara

There is a monster ,
that comes out every Halloween,
it feasts on fear and feasts on cheer,
don’t scream too loud otherwise,
it will hear. It hears your joy,
It hears your pain, don’t get
too happy or sad, it will know.
I have seen this creature in action,
but there is something in its chest; I thought
there was nothing at all it… it… was hollow.
My legs started to tremble, my belly started to rumble
and the tears started to reappear and its darkness ,
started to blind me, I could not see,
I could only sense its presence near,
and it screeched
I AM HERE!

My Class

by Samantha Summertime

My class is cool,
my class is weird,
my class mood changes like a shoe addict changes their shoes.
My class mood changes like the wind direction
sometimes lashing the rocky coast,
whipping up the waves into a frenzy
then just like that
still, calm, controlled, predictable
relaxed, tranquil, peace-filled
sensible, respectful, responsible and likeable
then with all the fury of a stirred up bee
whips into anger, frustration and hassles all of those around them
My class is unpredictable but never beige
never dull
never boring
I wouldn’t be with out them

Into the Background

Into the background
The sky is grey
July is well underway

The grass soft to the touch
The wind blows lightly
I am at peace

Birdsong all around
An escape from reality
A world of chaos

Constantly changing
Evolving
I lay in the natural world’s embrace

But despite the nature all around
The distant sounds of man’s creations are forever present
For the modern world is always present

Forever looming over nature
Even as I stare at nature’s beauty
The sound of cars stays forever present

As nature

Make Myself Feel Good

0
by Ellie Mai Lloyd Tonks

Sometimes life can be hard
so I wrote myself a card
and it said
When I get out of bed
I tell myself that I’m not dead
I tell myself I’m amazing
I tell myself I’m good
I tell myself I’m nice
and I’m glad that I could
I love the way I talk
I love the way I look
I love the way I am
and that I’m understood

Hi, my name is Bob
I look like a slob
Sometimes I look at the clock
and I hear it going tick tock
Then I jump
It’s the cuckoo clock
