The Truth

0
by Olivia Bernard aged 10

The forests are burning.
The rivers are drying.
The icebergs are melting.
The wildlife is fading.

But all that sorrow,
And all that pain
is hidden away,
By a naive and ignorant crowd.

Yet behind all that happiness,
The truth of it all,
Our world is suffering,
Until the curtain will fall.

The Second Chance

by Harshita Das aged 13

The Christmas Tree stood at the centre of the hall
Threatened to be devoured by the gifts around
Shrill golden bells chimed with the wind
Wailing in joy for the rebirth
Of the Single year
The creche surrounded itself with
Blinking lights and euphoric laughter
The single year becomes a second chance
The hands of the clock
Turn back once again

Jingle Bells Ring

2
by Shifa Asif aged 10

Jingle bells ring,
Is it nearly spring?
Santa clause is here,
Reindeers are tired,
They really inspire,
White, white coloured snow falling
From the purple sky,
Jingle bells ring,
Jingle bells ring,
Are the GIFTS under the tree?
I hope they are,
The star is shining bright,

Sparkling light,
On the Christmas tree,
Filled with colourful decorations,
Wonderful,
Just wonderful,
Oh, look who is there wearing the red
cap?
It is Santa, hooray!
We will enjoy our Christmas today!

White Christmas

by Daisy Wootton aged 8

All I want is a white Christmas
So nobody at all can miss this
Whether it’s Santa coming down the chimney
Or it’s the delicious figgy pudding
All I want is a white Christmas
So nobody can forget this

I Hope

I hope:
for decorations
on a tree;
for presents under
needles (some for
me!);
Christmas will be magical.

Christmas Tree

Crackers on the table
Hear the bells ring
Reaching the roof
Instant magic feeling
Sparkling beautifully
Towering tall
Marvellous decorations
And a
Star on top

Tinsel draped over
Reindeer decorations hung
Enter the room
Everything is lit up.

Christmas

by Harshita Das aged 13

I shall sit right here all day! On this very bed
There is not a thing you can do to get me out
On Christmas, I shall not make a snowman; nor ride a sled!
Instead, I will stay under the toasty blankets throughout

Because what use do I have for Christmas feasts or lights?
Or the laughter that roars in the streets below me?
In a week or so, everyone will forget about this night
Forget about the presents, the spirits, the trees

Some people call me dead inside
I call it living a pragmatic life

But perhaps just this once, in the spirit of Christmas
I shall sing and dance and rejoice
I shall rip open the wrappers and see what’s inside
And…
Huh?
Somehow, I simply feel alive

Christmas is Near

by Hitakshi aged 10

Christmas is near,
it’s time to shine,
the people sing Christmas carols,
the kids fight with snowballs.
Make snowmen and have so much fun.
Everyone knows now that
Christmas is near.

The Unfortunate at Christmas Time

0
by Daisy Woods aged 10

You wake up on the first day of advent,
With an advent calendar downstairs.
They wake up on the streets,
Catching their deaths.

You decorate your house,
With lights, Christmas trees, and wreaths.
They don’t have houses,
Never mind Christmas trees.

You get Christmas Cards,
Religious or not,
Nobody talks to them,
It’s like they’re not even there.

You put mince pies and milk for Santa,
A carrot and a glass of water for the reindeer.
They probably don’t know who these are.
They are sitting there staring into the night sky.

You bounce out of bed on Christmas Day,
To a pile of presents,
They wake up,
It’s just another day of depression.

You have a lovely Christmas dinner,
Turkey, with all of the trimmings.
They get whatever crumbs they find.

Christmas Day

by Hanshika aged 10

The everlasting days, the dreary nights,
the big yellow star’s light,
Jesus is born to forgive and you to mourn at his death,
Sins he forgave
Us did he save,
Blessed are us to have him,
Died on the cross,
A terrible loss,
Our saviour Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ spells love.

He gave me eyes so I can see the wonders of the world.

Away in a manger no crib for a bed.
