I Am the Melody

by Rebecca Weighell aged 11

I am the day that brings the sun,
I am the sun that melts the ice,
I am the ice that forms the poles,
I am the poles that kill the heat,
I am the heat that makes the bath,
I am the bath that cleans the man,
I am the man that speaks the truth,
I am the truth that tells the word,
I am the word that fills the book,
I am the book that writes the melody

Sun Sting

sweet summer sifts
sun sinks slow
siesta slumber sigh
as soft secluded silence settles.
singing, sleepy still shining
I mumble to sleep
in a small salty smile

I Am the Earth

by Mia Matthews aged 11

I am the Earth that helps the man,
I am the sea that meets the sand,
I am the plant that forms the seed,
I am the flow’r that needs the bee,
I am the sun that greets the day,
I am the night that holds the moon,
I am the Earth that clasps the sea,
I am the word that speaks the truth.

I am the Threat

0
by Mia Matthews aged 11

I am the threat that fears the man,
I am the fumes that kill the tree,
I am the sun that heats the earth,
I am the ice that forms the sea,
I am the stream that meets the waste,
I am the bear that hunts the ice,
I am the trash that meets the fish,
i am the gas that chokes the air,
I am the word that speaks the truth.

I Am the Pollution

0
by Mila Dagher aged 10

I am the pollution that kills the plants
I am the politicians that make you rant
I am the plastic that floats in the sea
I am the humans threatening the bees
I am the food that poisons the man
I am the lies that delay the plan
I am the cloud that guides the storm
I am the Earth that is becoming warm
I am the youth trying to speak to the world.

What’s Wrong

0
by Sophia aged 12

The bees are buzzing; yet something isn’t right,
The sun is shining; yet I can’t see the light.
Whilst nature surrounds me; holding me up
I feel like I’m in a bottomless cup.

The trees and the life surround me,
Yet I know inside I’ll never be free.
Not whilst the fires are raging on,
Our nature now looks like an ugly swan.

So I beg you, I urge you, I plead you to change,
To stop our nature from looking so strange.
Our world that God gave us we have destroyed,
So make a change and failure we’ll avoid.

The bees are buzzing; yet it’s all right now,
The sun is shining and I certainly know how.
Nature surrounds me, it’s holding me up
I feel like I’m in a half full cup.

In the Garden

by Marcus Williams aged 9

My garden is my home
My garden is my house
It’s sometimes quiet
As quiet as a mouse
There are pretty animals
There at pretty flowers
My garden is my home
My garden is my house

Aussie Floods

0
by Annie Young aged 9

The water rises up high,
almost up to the sky.
Deadly are floods,
they kill without blood.
The rain never stops,
it just goes plop, plop, plop.
Rescue is necessary,
this crisis not imaginary.

Under the Sea

WINNER

Under the sea,
the great blue sea
whales and dolphins sleep.
Lobsters and starfish,
crabs and fish too
Scuttle, swim, dart, and creep.

Under the sea
where seaweed sways,
a submarine rumbles by.
Fallen and broken
on sandy seabed
Cracked, twisted, shipwreck lies.
