When I Close My Eyes

0
by Chloe Etherington aged 12

When I close my eyes I’m transported to a new world,
A world where the sun shines blissfully and the leaves dance endlessly,
A world where life is colourful and people are singing,
A world where creatures roam unharmed and the clouds as fluffy as marshmallow,
That’s the world where I want to be.

I see soldiers outside my window whilst clouds of darkness are consuming me,
Animals tortured and cities destroyed,
Human treating human as if one were an enemy or threat,
The sea rises as respect falls,
Pollution, Deforestation, War, Climate Change
This is world where I don’t want to be

crunchy and gloomy

Echo

by Isabella Griffith aged 12

This is not a water bottle, this is an echo machine;
If you speak into it, your voice echos around the Earth forever;
The lid looks battered, but it’s where echos have bounced off it into the air;
The paint is chipped, but it’s where echos have been absorbed into it to save its power;
Many years ago, the machine was created, and the first ever sound was made;
This is not a water bottle, this is an echo machine.

Back to School

“I don’t want to go!”
Screamed the boy,
Whilst watching everyone pass his window
“Please dad,
School makes me sad.”

“I want to see my friends
But can’t wait till the school day ends.
Summer is over, autumn is here
Back to school for a whole new year.”

Parallel Lives

For you, everything may be clear,
But for others the world is blear.
For you, this here is fun
But it isn’t for everyone.
For you, the word is funny,
But for some it’s not so sunny.
For you, the knowledge seems real,
But really the truth is unreal.
For you, nothing seems blurry,
Others can’t see past the worry.
For you, you may like things straight,
But really that’s not all the weight.
For you, the names an insult,
Which hurts others as a result.

People are kind
People are unique in there own way

People are competitive
People are creative
We are all the same in our own way

Some people like sport
