Going to School

1
by George aged 12

In days of youth, when life was new
And learning called, I had to do
What many others did as well
Attend that place called “school”.

A structure grand, with rooms so bright
Where knowledge waited day and night
Teachers taught, lessons learned
Friends were made and memories burned

We walked through gates of iron and stone
To halls where wisdom so well known
Our minds were filled with facts and figures
As our imaginations giggled

The playground buzzed with laughter loud
Where games of hide-and-seek allowed
Lunchtime brought friends together round
Sharing stories, secrets found

School days passed as seasons turned
Each one unique, yet all were yearned
For knowledge, growth, and fun we learned
In this place we called “school”

But now those days are gone, alas
Adulthood has taken their place
Though memories remain, oh so bright
Of going to school with such delight

Football Rules

Football rules,
It’s cool.
And it’s not for fools or tools,
And people play it in schools,
And do you know what…
Football rules!!!!

The Bravest Soldier

0
by Jacob aged 11

Soldiers come and soldiers go.
War is sad and everyone knows.
Do soldiers have fun and lots of love.
Or do they have none of the fun.
Where they go, no one knows.
Gun shots are heard, bang, pow, boom!
It is so glum, without any friends.
Do you have the courage, to go with a gun?
Then we love and respect the one’s we love.

The bravest soldier believes in himself.
Whatever the challenge he will do his best.
Whatever he does he shows the rest.
If it’s time to strike he will not stay back.
Because he will prove that he is the best.

The Soldier that Inspired the Army

0
by Tyler aged 12

Gun shots are heard, and grenades are thrown as soldiers run to take cover;
The chief yells GRENADE but is too late
From the smoke a soldier appears
He runs from the hiding to save his comrades life
He hopes for victory but he can’t go on with his injuries;
The pain causes him to collapse

He pushes the soil beneath his uniform determined to keep going
He refuses defeat, he cannot retreat and he takes a final stand
He sprints, determined to save the life trapped under the soil.
He finds is comrade laying there as blood rushes down his face.

He feels his heartbeat and gets a glimpse of hope,
The soldiers defend, feeling amazed as they run and help them up.
They bring them to safety.
As the soldier falls with his mission complete
La vraie gloire est l’inspiration pour sauver ses camarades

My River

by Esme aged 11

My river runs cold
And an iciness unfolds
He looks at me and I look to the floor
I can’t bear see him but I thought I had seen this before
Maybe I am a wrecker of innocent people
Sometimes they must just call me evil

My river runs frosty
He was such a softy
Made me things for special occasions
And now we have no relations
Always texted goodnight with two red hearts
Those will be the parts that I miss the most

This Poem Doesn’t Rhyme

1
by Samuel aged 11

This poem doesn’t rhyme,
I never use them all the time,
Hey I just bought an electric viola,
I’ll celebrate with some cola,
My name is Frank,
And I keep my money in the bank,
My poem is finished,
Oh no, it rhymes! I’ll just eat some spinach.

What Am I?

With an R, it’s a good buddy,
without an R it’s a horrible enemy,
And without the N it’s a type of delicious food.
Who am I?

Fied!

Mirror

I stare at you
You stare at me
The deep hazel eyes piercing my soul
Searching for answers
Explanations
“Tell me what happened”
They say

I stare at you
The rosy cheeks glistening with sweat
Tension filling the air
“Who are you?”
“What are you?”

I stare at you
Pink lips, brown hair
You look like someone I know
But you also don’t

I stare at you
Questions racing through my mind
But I should know the answers
Because you are me
And I am you

And yet I still stand
Staring at you
Wondering if I will ever know
If I will ever understand
Who you are

The Sun and the Moon

by Samuel aged 10

There once was two goddesses,
named Sol and Lun,
Sol was the goddess of life, Lun was the goddess of peace,
They used their powers together,
and out came a BLAST!
And they made the planet we settle in today.
Sadly Sol and Lun didn’t survive,
But some say,
They live as the sun and the moon today.

Last Christmas I took a bath so hot it’s just a laugh
I smile not much but I smile I worship Christ all the time
Every day, every night even if I die
