Riding a Lion

Riding a Lion by Coral Rumble (Troika Books)

Coral Rumble’s reputation was greatly enhanced when she won the 2018 Caterpillar Poetry Prize with the poignant Mustafa’s Jumper. In her latest anthology her talent shines again. Poems with no rhymes share space with plentiful couplets involving funny and quirky wordplays like The Climber, a spider who “knows no failure, Expert  climber and abseiler”. A couple of fake gravestone epitaphs really tickle the funny bone. One starts “Here lies the body of film buff Rex, He lived his life for special effects…”.
