Magical Portion

by Samaara Taneja aged 10

The purple blood from a blue-scaled dragon
Found in the middle of a volcanic eruption

A devil’s horn from the midst of hell
A halo soaked in poison from an angel

Tossed, crushed, sieved and sprinkled
Down into the cauldron the ingredients trickled

The ocean’s blues from far below
Pebbles from a cliff face in Pluto

A fillet of fat from an electrocuted pig
A dog’s eye extracted from a mouth belonging to a goblin

Tossed, crushed, sieved and sprinkled
Down into the cauldron the ingredients trickled

The bravery of a lion from the depths of Africa
And the green skin of a green tiger

Saturn’s rings bathed in the moonlights water
A witch’s hat that has been slaughtered

Tossed, crushed, sieved and sprinkled
Down into the cauldron the ingredients trickled

A unicorn’s hoof found far in the south
But be careful, it’s quite dangerous, don’t wander about

A hoodie from an alien that’s a combination of colours
Only that and nothing duller

Tossed, crushed, sieved and sprinkled
Down into the cauldron the ingredients trickled

Finish it off with a monkey’s heart
And then you know the spells finished at last
