Top Ten Books For Christmas No 8

We Wish You a Merry Christmas by Chris Riddell (Macmillan)

Although published a couple of years ago – still one of the best Christmas collection. It contains traditional Christmas fare as in We Wish You a Merry Christmas (I really must make some figgy pudding this year) and Jingle Bells (written by James Pierpoint; I always thought it was by Anon) as well as classics such as Benjamin Zephaniah’s Talking Turkeys and the more obscure, but totally brilliant Nothingmas Day by one of my favourite poets, Adrian Mitchell. But best of all, of course, the whole thing is brought together by Chris Riddell’s wonderful illustrations.
