Something Hiding Beneath My Bed

Something Hiding Beneath My Bed by Brian Moses (Candy Jar Books)

I have known Brian Moses and liked his poetry for some time, so this is not a wholly unbiased review. However, I feel I know him really well now – and so will you once you’ve read this great book of poems, nicely illustrated by Patrick Coombs. They are informed by his growing up in the 1950s and 1960s – but they will resonate with all ages, such is the nature of childhood. No amount of technology, nor modern parenting, will change the fact that being young can be pretty scary as well as joyously exciting and incredibly shocking, now as it always was. Brian captures these extremes as well as the emotions of everyday in this beautifully-written, moving collection, which will be loved by readers of all ages.
