World War One

by Eveie aged 11

War for the ages, war for the worlds

Over desperate soldiers the airplanes whirled

Running away from the bullets so sharp

Learning to shoot at the enemy’s heart

Demolishing friendships, demolishing lives

Worrying soldiers of worrying wives

Armies invading, territories lost

Rarely they wonder, what is the cost?

1914 – 1918
