Pets can be dogs
Who love us
And offer silent support
In times of sadness.
Pets can be cats,
Who love us too,
They urge us on,
Making sure we achieve our goals.
Pets can be hamsters,
Who make sure we are alright at night,
When we are asleep,
But they are awake.
Pets can be fish,
Who let us watch their soothing movements,
Making sure we are alright,
Even if we never notice.
Pets can be birds,
Who fly,
And some come in twos,
Like those birds who love,
Who are named lovebirds
Or those who come alone,
But love to be with you,
And can be trained to go on your finger,
Who are named budgies.
Pets can be reptiles,
Slowly moving,
Making sure we don’t go too fast.
All pets are wonderful,
Watching us when we are there,
And waiting for us to return when we are gone.
Lovely poem. Well done.
