I Will Put in the Box

by Isobel Heyworth aged 11

I will put in the Box

The soft fluffy feel of my dog’s fur
The time I broke my brother’s baby chair
When I heard the first gurgle of a baby
On the transition days at school when I met my teacher

I will put in the Box

A time for new friends and reuniting with old
Christmas morning opening the best present ever
When I brought my two Guinea Pigs home

I will put in the Box

The quiet bark of a puppy
New friends in Reception
When I almost dropped my baby brother

My box is made from photographs with bronze locks
With all of my memories
On the outside I will store all of my secrets

Carrying all secrets foretold and storing them away
I shall carry my box far and wide
Every second of everyday, every hour, never
Leaving any memory behind
