When I Am Older

by Kaitlyn aged 11

When I am older…
Will I have a car?
Will my work be really far?
Will I live in the same town?
Will I have a golden crown?
Will I live in a mansion?
Will I be really beautiful or handsome?
Will I like some of the same things?
Will I have a big family?
These are things that matter to me.

Hi Kaitlyn. This one ran out of steam a bit, so I’ve attached a new last line. Hope that’s okay. Because kids didn’t have a good rhyme that made sense (bids?) – I changed the last word to something similar – family – and the poem fell into place. I’ve enjoyed all your poems. Here’s an idea. Why not make them into a little book, photocopy them on a printer, and give them to family members for Christmas?
