What a Bird Sees in a Day

by Veer Sorout aged 10

I am a bird flying sky high
I see helicopters and planes passing by
I swoop down low
And land in a patch of soft white snow
I see cars zooming past me
As far as one can see.
I fly up to a tree with a big log
So I can see through the fog
Now it is time to sleep
I make a small nest and step into a dream.
I wake up early in the morning and look around to see
The sun all lustrous and bright
Making everything look mellow and light
I fly over the streets
And glide over homes
Looking for seeds or water
Which humans leave outside
I finally find my destination,
A place warm and pleasant
Where I can rest,
Until winter ends
