Wear a Poppy

by Nida aged 10

Wear a poppy on this day
On the eleventh stand to pray
And think about those who died
And all the people who mourned and cried

Wear a poppy on this day
Have two minutes silence, and then say
Well done! to those who held a gun
Until the deadly war was won

Wear a poppy on this day
For several minutes stop your play
Our soldiers didn’t cower
And they fought till their last hour

Wear a poppy on this day
On the eleventh stand to pray
And think about those who died
And all the people who mourned and cried
