Waves

by Emilia Pitcher aged 11

I love the rough waves of the sea
The way the wash of the waves
are like horses, galloping
Racing fastest just as the waves crash down
But slowing until nothing is left
As the wave hits the shore

The way that the deep blue of the sea and sky
Contrasts with the yellow sun and sand
And the white of the fluffy clouds and wash
Like a peacock showing off
its many colours
Displayed like a perfect painting

The way that the sea holds life
Like a giant house for most of Earth
With turtles and fish within
With waves for giant bodyguards
Stopping you from swimming
too far from your boat

The sound of the sea
is like a lion, roaring
As the thundering waves
Crash down, water sprays
And keeps on going
Until the wave hits the shore.
