My Valentine

by Jane Edwards aged 15

No card
no chocolate
no sugar-paper note
I don’t mind! Or even dote
upon the fact that my Valentine
wasn’t a scribbled prose
of blue violets or a red rose
because the feeling that radiates from my belly to my heart
I cannot even start
to explain
When I think of him and that day
I confess
it’s
better than chocolate
better than words
simply the best

Hope you don’t mind, but I’ve changed a word to give you a rhyme at the end, to round the poem off.
