Unseen Beauty

by Justina Hale aged 13

Perfect complexion
Ugly reflection
My tears are shed
While yours are being fed
If you see what I see
You would jump up and flee
Because you don’t know what it’s like to be me.

She is perfect but she can see the flaws
You see an open sky while I see closed doors
You see a blank page she sees a story told
I’m silver, second best – you are gold
Truly perfect, don’t second guess me
You don’t truly know me
I’ll put up a facade until you can show me.
