True, True Love

by Megan Simmonds aged 10

One day I loved him,
The next day I didn’t.
I don’t know if that is possible.
One day we were together,
The next day we weren’t.
I don’t know if that is possible.
One day he was saying, “Megan, do you want to go dancing?”
The next day he says, “Lucia, do you want to go to the movies?”
I don’t know if that is possible.
One day he gave me true love’s kiss,
The next day he gave her true love’s kiss.
I don’t know if that is possible.
One day he sent me a 50 line email,
The next day he sent her a 100 line email.
I don’t know if that is possible.
One day I loved boys,
The next day I didn’t.
I don’t know if that is possible.
And here I am old as usual,
In my old chair,
Thinking about that time,
The time I was heart broken.
I hate this true, true love.
