True Light

by Samaara Taneja aged 10

Be a river that flows
Through rough and thick
Meandering along the path
So you will never stop when an obstacle comes along the road

Be a tree that’s rooted
To the ground
Never moving and so zen
So you can always be calm and happy

Be a mountain that stands
So strong and tall
Looking over all the others below
So you will always cease to be compassionate

Be a rainbow that leaps
Big and beautiful
Leaning over and stretching around the sky
So you will always add colours to lives

Be a star that shines
In the night sky
Guiding the blind under you
So you will always help

Be the moon that orbits
Around Planet Earth
Helping to brighten nights across the world
So you know there’s no true light that shines as bright as you
