This Must Be Perfect

by Ella aged 12

Twisting roads wind up a tired, dark mountain
The car slows, reaching the top
Silence and solitude
In the cold morning air
The engine comes to a slow, lazy stop
And so does the world

The sun peeks through evergreens
Casting shadows on the sleeping town below
Rosy pinks and golden oranges
flow into the cloudy morning
The world becomes clear
Like a crystal ball

A kaleidoscope of colors
Reflecting against the strong, vast ocean
For miles and miles
Everything is still
This must be perfect
