The School is Alive!

by Veronika aged 9

Yesterday, I saw the school awakening,
Doors opening their mouths,
Gates flying high,
Lockers said hello after a long weekend,
As the wind quietly sighs.

Yesterday, I saw the school running,
Fields getting crushed,
Students moved like light,
And teachers moved like earth.

Yesterday, I saw the school crying,
Students having a bath of blood,
Cranberry on the ground,
Teachers hair receding,
As a corpse makes a sound.

Yesterday, I saw the school eating,
Sandwiches and slithering snakes,
Kids were as happy as a Cheshire Cat,
Teachers could finally eat their rainforest,
Some people didn’t have any….
Because I ate their food….

Yesterday, I saw the school leaving,
In one pull of a door,
The students were ghosts,
The classroom soon became an abandoned house,
And Mrs. Quinn,
The funeral instructor.

Yesterday, I saw the school ageing,
Spider webs in corners,
Rats now have a home rent free,
And bricks turn grey with rage.
