The Globaglob

by Mimi Solero aged 11 soon 12

One warm summer evening,
I saw lurking on my ceiling,
A Globaglob.

He had pink and purple swirly fur,
Stubby limbs, and shimmering eyes of gold,
He muttered and rolled around saying
“Oooh…” and “Aaah…”

I watched in awe as it slurped down
Snowflake milkshakes?
Eating cloud-like
Cotton candy?

It was bizarre, unreal, like a fantasy
Movie-like adventures,
Comedic like TV.
As nurturing as a mum, (and maybe a bit annoying too!)
Colours on its body changing like umbra hues

Then last night, in moonlight,
Rays of neon purple zoomed down
“We’ve come for our friend, Globaglob,
he is nowhere to be found.”
I felt lonely already inside.
As I started to say no,
He materialized by my side.
He wrote me a note.
“Today is a day of newer days, a great day to be alive.
Today and tomorrow, I had you, a best friend at my side.
I was a good buddy you swore by
But as long as leaves fall in fall,
You need no crazy goodbye.”

I then woke up, a ray of light disappearing in the winter day,
Globaglob HAD to be real,
He is my friend for today.
