The English Boy Behind the Tree

by James aged 9

The English boy behind the tree
Who everyday is in misery,
Rejects going to his class
The teachers don’t get such a fuss.

His mother’s exasperated
Her son refuses to be educated,
Every morning he’s the same
His face looks grumpy and so plain.

His brothers’ efforts are exhausted
He’s still declining to be jolted,
The principal came out of the gate
The English boy is always late.

Whether in sunshine or in rain
His mood’s unfailingly the same,
Rather he feels ashamed
Or maybe he’s in pain.

He’s missing home and all his games
At school everything seems to be lame,
No one even cares about it
No one seems to mind it.
