Tear Drop

by Kaytlyn aged 11

From the day I got him I loved him so much,
His fur was a soft velvety silk with every single touch.
But at the time I didn’t know
That his age would shorten but yet grow.
He was a chocolate Labrador named Chad, we had so much fun
But now I sit on my bed feeling tearful & sad.
I talk to him still he was such a wonderful pup,
However when I do I don’t look down I look up.
When I look at his picture I can see
His big plate eyes staring so sweetly at me.
And when I think about him I can still hear his squeaky bark
And I still have a paw print puppy mark.
His pink wet tongue licked my face
But now he’s up in that what your parents say is the “lovely place”.
I wish I could have back Chad & his frothy mouthy slop
But all I can seem to get is a hot wet tear drop.
