Tea Party

by Charlottei aged 11

Wrote the invitations
With love and care.
Forgot to second think –
What if nobody was there?

Got the sweets and candy,
Of course chocolate cake!
Spent money on an oven
so the treat would bake

Bought balloons and party poppers,
A tea set – brand new.
Sang a couple of songs,
whilst standing in the queue.

Sent the invites out,
Next prepare the tea.
All my friends would come –
and make a memory

Soon the day came,
And I had such glee.
Giggling and dancing,
Shimmying happily.

They’re a little late,
Is what I thought first
Three hours later…
I’m about to burst!

Dark mascara tears,
Salty and black.
Greedy – eating chocolate
Now there’s no turning back!

Now I’m no longer hearty,
I give up on my party

How about the end being something like, I forgot to post the invitations. I think there needs to be a reason there.
