My Summer Holiday

by Abigail Lee aged 11

Thank goodness school is over,
My holidays start in Dover,
No more learning time for fun,
Time to eat a big iced bun.

Time to put the uniform to bed,
Time to put the bags away,
Time to hide the exercise books,
We’re on summer holiday.

New adventures to be seen,
Lining up, ‘don’t lean’,
Time to meet new friends,
Our friendship never ends.

Thank goodness school is over,
My holidays start in Dover,
No more learning time for fun,
Time to eat a big iced bun.

Time to get a summer tan,
Time to lie down in the sand,
Time for laughter, time for parties,
Time to eat sweets and Smarties.
