Summer Days

by Amelia aged 12

Summer days,
The sun hangs low, the breeze feels light,
The nights come late, the sky stays bright.
Hair gets lighter,
Skin glows warm,
All within those summer days.

Cars stay parked, we walk instead,
Cold drinks clink while books are read.
Trainers swapped for sandy toes,
Shorts replace what leggings froze—
It’s slow and sweet, these summer days.

Tide rolls in, we chase the foam,
Laughing loud, far away from home.
Ice cream melts before it’s done,
We stay outside, outrun the sun—
Living out our summer days.

Music drifting through the air,
Lean On playing everywhere.
Rockabye by bonfire light,
Ibiza songs late into night—
Our lives on loop, in summer haze.

So here we stay in endless rays-
Forever in summer days
