Statue

by Pragun aged 12

As it becomes evening,
I walk on the footpath
That is to the side of
The road. The world

Is still and silent.
You hear no sound.
Then, suddenly,
‘Statue!’ My friend

Shouts from behind
My back as loud as
A lion roars. He doesn’t
Tell me to stop being

A statue. So, for the
Rest of the evening,
I am stuck in one
Place, being a statue.

Hi Pragun. I like the way you cut your poems into short lines. And you use the convention of starting each line with a capital letter. I think you should just let your sentences flow naturally. Cut them up as you have been doing but don’t start with a capital letter, unless it’s the beginning of a new sentence ir phrase. Try it.
