A Soldier’s Story

by Robbie Harris aged 9

They said they are the enemy
And we have to shoot to kill
But he looked like he could be my friend
I think his name was Bill
I bet he liked football just like me
When he was only nine
But they say we have to shoot him
Because he’s the wrong side of the line

    Hi Robbie,
This is an excellent poem and a well deserved winner. It says so much in just 8 lines. Well done.

well done robbie you seem to have really understood the feelings of the young men who went into the war in 1914.
