Snowball Fight

by Alaina aged 8

Crisp, blue skies, a blanket of snow
racing into the park I go.
Wrapped up warm, I start to shout
as other children run about.

“Snowball fight?” I ask and grin,
everybody wants to win!
Children squeal and start to race
and then there is a mighty chase!

Snowballs pelt through the sky.
we duck and dive as they fly high.
Crouching down, I roll some more.
I giggle as I watch them soar.

Ouch! One hits me on my hat!
I jump as another one goes splat!
I laugh a lot, my belly aches
as we play among the white snowflakes.

Night is near, the sky turns black.
tired and wet, I slowly walk back.
I snuggle up in clean, warm clothes,
the smell of hot chocolate drifting through my nose.
