Slowly Fading

by Sophie Hill Shawe aged 12

I see your true colours flying out of you
like eagles soaring in the sky
As I sit in my room looking through the window

Thinking of our good times together
Trying to forget the bad
All the times we went out walking

I made you a daisy chain
you put it around your arm and said how much you loved it
You made me feel happy, alive and alight

Then the bad sneaked into my head like a ninja in black
The time when you said you would be there but never came back
The time I invited you to my birthday but you never showed up
All the lies you said to me…

I see your true colours now
Nothing left to see
The light has faded, now it’s just me
