The Skin I’m In

by Emma aged 10

The skin I’m in is just a covering
Beauty is not skin deep
We are given labels
Black or white
We need to rip them off and think, who would I be without them?

If you want to know who I am inside
Don’t hide the good away from view
Because anyone could judge me if they really wanted to

Through diversity we are unified
Be with me, inside of me
Look through the windows
I am not black… I am Emma
