Silence

by Alderson Exantus aged 14

Silence is my best option because I don’t wanna step,
better yet get lost in a dark world I just don’t belong in.
This world is full of sin and they know exactly what they’re doing,
they feed you lies as they smile at you with a mischievous grin,
and we eat it up like we can’t wait to eat again,
it’s surprising how many people will pretend to be your friend
just to rip out your heart and leave you wishing you were dead,
trust me, being led on is something that you dread,
something that sticks in your mind
every night before you go to bed,
asking what could have been,
if they saw what was really in your head.
I tell the truth and say things that are usually not said,
even though people love listening to the lies instead.
Let me remind you, I don’t know what’s best,
but I know when you’re silent
you get to know yourself better then the rest.
You also see the rest in a brighter light.
This was my experience,
things that I saw when I became mute and regained sight.
