School Starts

by Eleanor Heath aged 11

It’s the first day of secondary;
New school, new beginnings;
My mum shouts me for breakfast, I’ll be there in a minute.
I’m in a rush, don’t want to be late for the bus;
But I have to give my hair a brush.
My anxiety kicks in as I walk down the halls;
All I’m trying to think is not to fall.
Everyone is watching me;
Why can’t they just let me be?
