Sat in the Dark

by Millie Q aged 9

Sat in the dark,
sat in the shade.
I feel like going to the beach today,
let me grab my bucket and spade.

Sat in the sun,
sat in the light.
I’m going to go home,
away from the sun, so bright.

Sat in the cold,
sat in the storm.
I’m going to have a holiday,
so warm!

Sat in the plane,
sat in the sky.
I feel like
I’m gonna fry!

Travelling home,
to my special place.
Finally where I began,
with my own space!

Hi Millie. I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve just used the first part of your poem here. I really like it – and I think the second half spoils it. I DO like the second half though – so could you maybe send that as a separate poem?

Oh dear. But listen – you must keep a copy of all your poems. If something happens to this website – then you’ll lose loads. The best thing to do is to write the poem first THEN copy it into the Poetry Zone. Then you’ll have a copy, and also you’ll improve it, because when you read it a second time you can correct errors and make little changes.
