Santa Claus and Christmas

by Tanvi Nagar aged 11

What’s so exciting?
Christmas nights,
When the world is full of lights,
And Santa Claus comes
With his carriage and his reindeer.

He has a sack full of toys,
He comes tip-toeing in with no noise,
Down the chimney he comes,
Sliding down,
He lives in the icy-cold town.

I hang my stockings on the Christmas tree,
And I tie a string on my knee,
So that I know when he comes,
But I now think it might be my Mum.

I love, to go to carnivals and malls,
Everything is red, even the colour of walls.
The best thing I like is decorating my Christmas tree,
With dolls, stars and different kind of balls,
Decorating with my favourite star,
On the tree top.

Once when I wasn’t so good and did not expect a gift,
I was so surprised that I went into a jig,
And wore my twinkling star fixed on a wig,
After all Santa Claus was there for me,
Whoopee!!!
Merry Christmas to you and me!!!
