Rose Buds

by Asirini Parakramawansha aged 11

A million petals sparkle,
Covered in the weeping sky’s tears.
As other flowers wither,
the rosebuds seem to shut tight in fear.
I wonder what’s inside them?
Maybe frolicking little elves,
Maybe they have gems inside
Stored on little petal shelves.
They never ever seem to move,
or open up at all.
Maybe they’re just shy because,
Compared to the others they’re so SMALL.
