My Poor Little Tadpoles

by Maheen Manzoor aged 11

Mum gave me some tadpoles,
for my fifth birthday…

I called the first Dictionary,
and the second I called Fanawkarerri,
i called my third one Lithewaywe,
an my fourth one Counter Sperii.

I called each one with most delight,
I fed them, and trained them,
from wrong to right.

They slept near my bed all night long,
until that awful day came along,
I woke up to find not tadpoles in my bowl,
but huge green frogs instead, OH NO!

I ran to mom who was downstairs,
and told her all that had happened there.
she told me that frogs must have gobbled them up!
OH, my poor little tadpoles will they ever show up again?
