The Pleading Men

by Ellie Robinson aged 9

I’ve got a son
I’ve also got one
My wife won’t let me go
To go and fight the foe
I don’t want to be dead
All covered in red
It’s a sin
It’s obvious we won’t win
What will happen to us
If we join the army bus?

What happened to them
All those pleading men?
The whole lot
Were shot

Competition Runner Up. No prize I’m afraid. But well done!
